It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Welcome to America's pride and joy. The Liberty Bell. It is a symbol of independence, freedom and blah blah something else ever so inspirational. The only thing i remember from all of the historical mumbo jumbo that attempted to educate me was that it broke after the first ring...lol... its a little funny. I bet Pass and Stow aren't so happy to have their name on the bell after that dodgy fix it job. But hey, when not everything goes to plan, we pretend it was meant happen and attach another symbolic meaning - the crack represents the hardship that was endured by America while attempting to claim their independence.

On a more historically important note, we set out to find which was better of the two alleged creators of the Philly Cheese Steak, Pat's or Geno's. They are about 20 meters from each other and both maintain that they are not only the creators, but have the better cheese steak... the lines to both places were huge, so naturally, Raquel and I bailed from the situation and sat in the bar that was between them and had a drink while Victor and Bart set out on their mission. Apparently Geno's had the 'juicier' steak.

More Philly Adventures:

Today we went Rocky hunting. We visited his statue and stood on his foot prints.

While Raquel's trip with me is coming to an end, I would like to introduce you all to the lonely view I will have for the rest of the trip as I have realised that 2xKayla strides = 1xVictor/Bart stride.

I have to work on my speed, clearly!

Thats all for now. Next stop, DC

NYC

~Tuesday~
Tuesday's a game day! We went to Yankee Stadium and saw the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Rays. It was an amazing game.

~Wednesday~
~Another Goodbye~
We gained a few more travel buddies, but as fast as they come, they go. Today, we lost Alex from our super exchange group :( we said our emotional goodbyes... no, not goodbyes... we said out emotional 'see you laters' and watched another one leave.

~Coney Island~
I had my very own 'Uptown Girls' experience. We made our way down to Coney Island on the subway and stopped at Nathan's World Famous, First Ever, Original, One and Only Frankfurters since 1916!!!!! I didn't have a hotdog, but the burgers were ok I suppose.

We then made our way down to the Coney Island theme park to ride the Teacups! We were so so excited (even Jules who was willing to risk the sick factor to ride the spinning cups under the condition we didn't spin too fast). We got there to find that the park was closed! :( I was almost ok with it because i felt like i was in the movie! .. almost ok with it... It was kind of lucky for Jules because i was going to spin the shit out of those cups!!!

Instead, we had a pleasant bay day.

In my beach experience i discovered that New York Beaches have Pigeons, Blimps and black headed Seagulls... Who would have thunk it.

~Brooklyn Bridge take two~
After making our way back broken hearted due to the lack of spinning cups, we decided to have a little night walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. The views did not disappoint. They were also extra special after my near death experience with a crazy cyclist on the bridge who would have left me with a million Broosters (Spanglish Bruises).

~Staten Island Ferry~
But the views just weren't enough from the Brooklyn Bridge, so we made our way over to the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.

(We found a Bull on the way)

~On Thursday~
...We had a shopping day... those at home will know how I feel about these days... but it was only uphill from there with a romantic dinner in Central Park followed by site seeing on the Empire State Building and a trip to ground Zero.

(You could see lightning in the distance and i tired to take a picture of it, but after about 100 photos the same as this one, i realised that my reflexes where not going to cut it)
(Victor trying to get a kiss on the Empire State Building)
We thought there would be a little more to see at Ground Zero, but 10 years later, they still aren't done with the Memorial. They had a few pictures of what it's going to look like though, and I'm sure when they finally get it done, it will look amazing.

~Friday~
The adventures of Dumb, Dumber, Dumbest and Dumberest

Today Kasey came down from Long Island to have a girls Broadway day. We lined up in a super long line to score us some cheap Addams Family tickets and then had adventures in Times Square before the show. The wait for tickets was definitely worth it.

(I took one sneaky shot before i got told off :s)

~Saturday~
We had another lot of goodbyes to Kasey, Jules and New York, but i know it wont be the last i see of any of them.

Stay tuned for Phillie adventures

PS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD, ALANA AND CARLA xxxxx Hope you all have the most amazing day. See you all in a month!
